GTA 6 will NOT be on Game Pass at launch

Take-Two Interactive has given zero indication that GTA 6 will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one. With a game of this budget and scale, they're not giving it away in a subscription on launch day. You'll need to buy it outright — standard purchase via the Xbox Store.

How to prepare for the June 25 pre-order

  1. 1Open the Xbox Store on your console or via the Xbox app / xbox.com.
  2. 2Search "Grand Theft Auto VI" and add it to your Wishlist — you'll get a notification when pre-orders open.
  3. 3Decide: Series X (4K, disc drive, larger storage) or Series S (digital only, lower price, smaller storage)?
  4. 4Have your Microsoft account payment method ready. If a Collector's Edition is announced, it'll go fast.

Xbox FAQ

I own an Xbox One. Can I play GTA 6?▾

No. GTA 6 requires Xbox Series X or Series S. The game's engine relies on NVMe SSD speeds that Xbox One doesn't have.

Does buying on Xbox Series S limit what I get graphically?▾

Yes. Series S targets 1440p (upscaled) rather than native 4K, and has half the RAM and storage of Series X. The game content is identical, but graphics quality and resolution will differ. Rockstar hasn't announced exact specs for either console.

Will GTA 6 support Xbox Play Anywhere?▾

Unknown. This is a Microsoft feature that lets you play on both Xbox and PC for a single purchase price. Given that GTA 6 has no confirmed PC release at launch, Play Anywhere isn't expected to apply.
